Mid-term Inspection Report on "Study on List System and Resource Atlas of Intangible Cultural Heritage in China"

This project was established in April 2012 and has been in total for 15 months.

Overall, the project has been promoted well, the project organization has been relatively active, the research content has gradually deepened, the research focus has become clearer, and the project has been well grasped.

Time node.

1 Project organization: (1) After the project was established, a relatively complete research team was organized according to the project plan.

It was mainly divided into three research groups: theoretical research group, compilation practice research group, and sample research group.

They were respectively composed of chief expert Cai Fengming, Tian Zhaoyuan, sub-project leaders, Wang Xiaokui, Lin Jifu, and others were responsible for it.

A total of 16 researchers participated.

(2) After the project was approved, a regular project meeting system was established, and a seminar meeting of the entire research group was held every 2 months, and detailed records were made for each meeting.

So far, 6 plenary meetings of the research group have been held, and the framework design, main contents, and specific division of labor of the project have been discussed in depth.

In addition, each sub-research group has also held many related meetings.

(3) After the project was established, relevant literature materials were extensively collected, including some literature materials in English and Japanese.

In addition to publicly published research works and papers, the research team also pays more attention to collecting relevant original materials, including unpublished manuscripts, transcripts, etc.

(4) After the project was established, relevant investigation points were established according to the actual needs of each sub-research group, and a relatively in-depth field investigation was conducted on these points.

The areas surveyed so far include: Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Jiaxing, and Huzhou, Zhejiang; Wuxi, Zhenjiang, and Xuzhou, Jiangsu; Shijiazhuang, Yu County, Hebei; Emei Mountain, Sichuan; Zhuanqiao, Minhang, Fengxianzhuanghang, Xuhui Huajing, Pudong Xinchang, Shanghai; and Beijing Urban area.

A large amount of first-hand information was obtained.

2 Research status of the topic: The research of this topic is mainly divided into three parts: (1) Theoretical research: A relatively complete theoretical system for the compilation of intangible cultural heritage maps has been established, including the historical development and origin of intangible cultural heritage maps, the current situation at home and abroad, the content, form, value of intangible cultural heritage maps with Chinese characteristics, and related issues, etc., and based on these studies, a research framework for the book "Theory and Methods for the Compilation of Intangible Cultural Heritage Resources in China"(about 400,000 words), one of the core achievements of this topic has been formulated.

(2) Compilation of practical research: The basic framework of the book "Manual for the Compilation of Intangible Cultural Heritage Resources Atlas in China"(about 100,000 words) has been established.

The content focuses on introducing the basic methods and specific implementation ways of compiling intangible cultural heritage maps, which has strong application value.

(3) Sample preparation: A total of 4 samples of intangible cultural heritage resource maps were designed according to research needs, including "China's Intangible Cultural Heritage Resources Map Compilation Sample 1-Folklore" and "China's Intangible Cultural Heritage Resources Map Compilation Sample 2--Traditional Festivals","China's Intangible Cultural Heritage Resources Map Compilation Sample 3-Folk Paper-Cutting","China's Intangible Cultural Heritage Resources Map Compilation Sample 4-Handmade Textile Skills".

Each sample compiles about 200 maps of various important intangible cultural heritage resources and projects, with 20000 words of text descriptions.

These four samples are important results in practical research of this topic and are currently under intensive progress.

These results mainly sort out the compilation of intangible cultural heritage maps through research and inspection of the concepts, connotation, characteristics, theoretical framework, compilation principles, as well as the actual situation in related fields (such as folklore, folk handmade textile skills), etc., exploring the basic context of the compilation of intangible cultural heritage maps, exploring the ideas and methods for building the theoretical system of the compilation of intangible cultural heritage maps, and strengthening the grasp of the theoretical focus of this topic through the analysis and research of some cases.

(3) In April 2013, Cai Fengming, chief expert of the research team, and Lin Jing, a member of the research team, went to Hebei Normal University to conduct research and exchanges on the production of intangible cultural heritage maps.
