What are the symptoms of rickets?

The clinical manifestations of rickets can be characterized by bone, joint and muscle lesions such as bone deformities and muscle laxity. It can also be accompanied by different mental and nervous system symptoms. Patients with more severe rickets can also be accompanied by multiple system manifestations. If children develop intellectual development disorders, they can also be considered related to vitamin D deficiency. Rickets mainly refers to vitamin D-deficient rickets, which can appear in children in the early stages such as irritability and disturbed sleep. In the early stages, children will develop skeletal deformity changes and dyskinesia, and may develop deformities such as funnel chest and chicken breast. On the other hand, O-shaped legs or X-shaped legs will appear in the lower limbs, and the muscles and ligaments are slack and weak. In the later period of recovery, the symptoms can gradually disappear, and a few severe patients will develop related skeletal deformity sequelae.
