Lopburi Monkey Cafeteria, Hwa Furi, Thailand

Lopburi, one of Thailand's oldest cities, has been known as Monkey City.

The town of Lopburi is now surrounded by some 2,000 monkeys, of whom more than 600 are still living in the city, which is proud of the monkey.

The monkeys are said to have been a gift from the Hindu god Rama when he handed the area over to the monkey king Hanuman hundreds of years ago.

In addition, the monkeys are considered to be disciples of the Temple of Phra Prang Sam Yot, a four-armed Indian creation and destruction god, Chao Pho Phra Karn, in the centre of the city.

The Thai Monkey Café is held on the last week of November each year to promote local tourism.

I'm sorry
