What is the difference between Coles fracture and Smith fracture?

There are certain differences between Collet's fracture and Smith's fracture in the pathological changes of the fracture. Collet's fracture occurs when the patient falls, and the wrist joint lands on the ground in a dors-extended state, which causes the distal end of the radius to shift to the dorsal radial side. Smith's fracture occurs when the wrist joint is in flexion, and landing will cause displacement of the radiometacar side. The condition of the disease can be clarified with the help of X-rays, CT and other imaging examinations. Due to the different types of fractures, there are certain differences in reduction techniques, but both require external fixation to promote fracture healing. However, if the degree of the fracture is serious, surgical treatment should also be considered for fixation.
