Why does marriage make people gain weight?
Researchers compared the body mass index (BMI) of married couples and single men and women in nine European countries, with over 10,000 participants. The results showed that married couples had a higher BMI than single individuals under the same conditions.
Why are married people more likely to be obese than single people?
1. Single people pay more attention to their physique to attract the opposite sex
When people are young and single, they are willing to look more attractive to pursue the opposite sex. They pay more attention to body shape management than married people. Married people have already found their "main," so whether they are fat or thin seems unimportant. They may lack control in their diet and become less interested in exercise.
2. Post-marital dietary habits
Before marriage, the two people do not live together, and their dietary habits differ greatly. However, after marriage, their dietary habits influence each other, and the differences become smaller. When they dine together, the portion sizes may also increase.
3. Childbirth after marriage
After marriage, people have children. Childbirth is a relatively serious "destruction" for women's figures. During pregnancy, increased food intake and reduced exercise can inevitably lead to weight gain.
4. Pressure from marriage and family
After marriage, people face multiple pressures, including marriage, family, work, and child education. Increased pressure can lead to hormonal changes, and pressure can naturally make people develop uncontrollable cravings, especially for high-sugar, high-fat foods.
