Why should yoga be "heated"?

It is reported that hot yoga consists of 26 stretching movements and 2 breathing methods. It is also a flexibility exercise. It can improve the flexibility of the spine and is especially suitable for office workers. It directly stimulates the nervous and muscular system through some static movements of twisting, bending and stretching and the rest time between movements, and can reduce weight.

At the invitation of hot yoga instructor Mo Huiping from Sanquan Apartment Gymnasium Yifang Yoga Center, the reporter participated in a hot yoga class to find out what happened.

1. Experience hot yoga

Before class, the reporter followed Coach Mo's instructions: Don't eat 3 hours before training, and it is best to drink a large glass of water 20 minutes before class.

Walking into the hot yoga classroom, I was greeted with waves of heat waves. Although the spacious and bright practice room was full of people who came to practice, it was very quiet. Everyone was surrounded by a bottle of water and two towels. Coach Mo said,"Because the room temperature is hot, the towel is used to wipe sweat, and the water is used to replenish moisture during training."

Class on time. After the coach introduced the course arrangements and water requirements, he began to practice the posture. As soon as he started to do one or two movements, the reporter began to sweat. During training, the coach asked each posture to be repeated once. Although Coach Mo allowed the students to relax reasonably after completing each posture, the reporter still felt that beads of sweat as big as soybeans were running down their cheeks.

Under this kind of warmth, it seems that everyone's flexibility has reached its best state. Stretch and squeeze to the maximum extent, and let the sweat "pour out" unscrupulously. After a while, the clothes are soaked through. At this time, it seemed to feel the pressure in the body expelled from the body together with the toxins.

Since this is the first time he has participated in hot yoga training, Coach Mo told reporters,"Beginners will have difficulty adapting to the pressure brought by yoga practice on the heart and respiratory system at this temperature, and will have dizziness reactions. This phenomenon is very normal. At this time, you can lie down and rest for a while."

2. Hot yoga loses weight like this

Coach Mo told reporters that practicing yoga can indeed reduce weight. Yoga achieves this goal in two ways.

First, some postures stimulate loose glands to increase hormone release. The thyroid gland can affect weight because it is directly related to the body's metabolism. Hot yoga, including several postures including shoulder standing and fish leaping over dragon gate, is particularly suitable for adjusting the thyroid gland. Fat metabolism is also increased due to yoga, so fat is converted into muscle and energy. This means that while reducing fat, you can also get better muscle texture and higher vitality levels.

Second, yoga's deep breathing exercise can increase the amount of oxygen absorbed by cells in the body, including fat cells, increasing oxidation and burning more fat cells.

Mo Huiping said: "If you are not overweight, your weight will remain the same. If you are underweight, you will gain weight. What adds is healthy, solid body tissue, not fat. In other words, yoga can create the ideal weight. This is because yoga has the function of normalizing gland activity."

3. Why should yoga be "heated"

Hot yoga was founded by Indian Bikram based on Hatha Yoga, a branch of yoga.

In the Hot Yoga series, Bikram retained the 26 postures of the original Hatha Yoga and arranged them scientifically. These 26 movements are scientifically arranged in the order of traction and heating according to the characteristics of human muscles, ligaments and tendons. Bikram believes that if the practitioner jumps to the 15th move without properly preparing the relevant muscles, the result will be as unpleasant as doing a hasty back somersault. Therefore, when practicing, you must follow the order instructed by the coach, otherwise you will make mistakes.

Hot yoga requires practitioners to stay at room temperature of 38 to 40 degrees Celsius because Bikram believes that practicing yoga without the body being heated can easily be injured. This is like heating a piece of steel, and it can be easily changed with a hammer. Change it to the shape you imagine, and there is no way to change steel that is not heated with a hammer.

Advocates of hot yoga believe that this set of movements can harmoniously restore the body to a balanced state in 90 minutes, allowing the entire body to be exercised. It can systematically deliver 100% oxygen-filled fresh blood to all parts of the body, allowing them to return to a healthy and natural working state.

In addition to the effect of weight loss, hot yoga has a therapeutic effect on insomnia, migraines, low back pain, cervical spondylosis, gastrointestinal diseases, etc. At the same time, practitioners of yoga can reduce facial wrinkles, make people feel young and longevity, increase disease resistance, improve vision and hearing, lose weight, mentally and emotionally healthy, and have sharper instincts.

4. Heart patients should be cautious when practicing hot yoga

The main principle of yoga nutrition is to eat small portions and eat high-quality food. Yogis recommend eating many fruits, vegetables, whole shells, and raw nuts. Because it is rich in life force, meat must be eaten less or not at all. Try to eat fresh and raw food as much as possible, and not eat something too hot or too cold. Alcohol is considered harmful to health and can hinder yoga progress.

Mo Huiping suggested:

1. During training, use your nose to breathe throughout the entire process: nose hair can filter dirty air and harmful bacteria, and can also calm nerves and make your body healthier.

2. Don't eat for an hour before and after practicing yoga: Keep an empty stomach.

3. Grasping the slow process of postures and the feeling of body movement is more important than completing the posture.

4. Maintain the number of breaths when completing the posture, limited to your physical fitness. Beginners can keep 3-5 breaths, and slowly increase the number later.

5. As long as you persevere in practicing yoga and do your best to achieve results. At the same time, heart patients should be reminded that high temperatures may cause discomfort. (Internship Editor: Wu Jinyu)
