Advantages and disadvantages of practicing yoga
Benefits of practicing yoga:
1. Increased vitality comes from the effect of yoga on the brain and glands.
2. Youthful appearance and mood: Yoga reduces facial wrinkles and produces a natural "face-lifting" effect. This is mainly due to handstands. Our usual upright position causes gravity to pull the muscles down. Over time, facial muscles gradually collapse. By standing upside down for a few minutes every day, we can reverse the effect of gravity and turn it into a helping force for our rejuvenation. It prevents facial muscles from slacking. It reduces wrinkles and smoothes the skin naturally.
Yoga handstand positions can often restore gray hair to its original color and delay gray hair. This is because handstand increases the amount of blood flowing to the hair sacs inside the scalp. This position increases the elasticity of the muscles, removes pressure on the blood vessels and nerves of the muscles, and allows more blood to flow to the scalp muscles. In other words, hair sacs get more nutrients and produce richer healthy hair.
3. Live longer: Yoga affects all conditions for longevity: the brain, glands, spine and internal organs.
4. Increase disease resistance: Yoga builds a strong physique and increases immune functions. This strengthened resistance can fight against serious conditions ranging from colds to cancer.
5. Improve vision and hearing: Normal vision and hearing mainly rely on good blood circulation and nerve transmission from the eyes and ears. The nerves and blood vessels that supply the eyes and ears must pass through the muscles. As you get older, the muscles lose elasticity like other parts of the spine, and nerves and blood vessels may encounter stagnation and difficulty when they pass through the neck. This affects the supply of nerves and blood to the eyes and ears, thereby affecting their functioning. Yoga postures and yoga neck exercises can improve neck conditions, thereby enhancing vision and hearing.
6. Improvement of mental emotions: Because yoga produces a rejuvenating effect on the glandular nervous system, including the brain, mental emotions will naturally show a positive state. It makes you more confident, more enthusiastic, and more optimistic. Daily life will also become more creative.
Disadvantages of practicing yoga:
1: Improper practice of yoga can easily be injured
Many people practice yoga with unclear purpose. There are many asanas to practice yoga, some of which are difficult for many people to do. Because everyone's physical foundation is different, it will be difficult to do it all at once without the exercise process. And it can cause harm to the body. Generally speaking, difficult postures have high requirements on all aspects of the body and often require long-term stretching or support. For some people whose muscle strength and flexibility are not enough, it can easily lead to tendon injuries and cause joints to become unstable.
Generally speaking, practicing yoga should be based on the standard of "the body can bear it". If the body feels pain during the practice, it should be reset immediately and rest.
2: People who are too thin cannot practice yoga well
Yoga itself is an exercise that requires muscle strength. For thin women, thin muscles can easily be strained. Doctors instead suggest that some women who are too thin should go through some basic strength training before practicing yoga.
So practicing yoga is not the best choice for weight loss, especially for those whose body size is already within the normal range, but it is still helpful for obese people.
Weight loss mainly depends on consuming calories. The most effective means to lose weight still requires scientific control of diet and effective exercise. Therefore, unless it is some special yoga practices such as thermal yoga, it is difficult to achieve the goal of losing weight in the short term by practicing yoga. Many people do not lose too much weight after practicing yoga, but their body composition and structure are better than before. This is the ultimate goal of yoga to lose weight.
