East and North African folk story: the hero story of Akiniface village
one day, 12 people from the village of akiniface went to the town of maiyetega to beat wheat.
when they came home through the valley with bags and walking on a road through the cactus, one of them wondered whether everyone had returned from the city.
so he told the rest to stop and start counting.
because he forgot to count himself, only eleven.
"wait a minute!" he said, "there's one missing!" "who's missing?" a travel companion asked.
count it yourself, first answer.
but the second one, like the first one, forgot to count himself.
“you're right.
we only have eleven.
there's one missing!" he said.
at that time, another person again counted everyone, but he also saw only 11 people on the road.
"ah! he shouted, "there's a man lost! he must have been captured by a leopard!" twelve people cried for lost friends.
finally, they returned to the village of akinifas, blaming themselves for failing to protect their companions.
"we should take good care of him." one in the middle says.
“yes, he should not be left alone for the leopards!” another said.
"and so big a leopard!" the third one said.
"it's a ferocious panther!" says the fourth.
the fifth shouted, "he's a warrior!" "one of the bravest of the tigrays," and the sixth affirmed, "he didn't even scream out of fear." "when we told his poor widow that such a good man had been killed by a group of leopards," the seventh said.
"his family is pathetic.
it's hard enough without it." the eighth one goes on sad.
“he is not only brave, but also noble and kind.” the ninth saying.
they so lamented their friends that they had come to the village of akinifas.
they came into the village crying.
people came out of the house and they came up to them.
“alas, how unfortunate! we came back from the town of maiyet qig, and a terrible thing happened on the way,” the people who came back shouted.
then they said how the missing companion fought the leopards and died heroically.
listening people get excited and loud.
that's when a little girl walked in the middle of a flour bag.
these flour bags were placed on the ground by the people who came back from town.
she counted 12 bags.
"mom," she said, "here's 12 bags of flour." "leave me alone," said the woman, "death of such a good man!" "mom," and the little girl said, "here's 12 bags of flour, that should be 12.
women stopped talking and counted the bags themselves.
"here are 12 bags, then there should be 12!" she screamed.
village chief, openThe people who came back from Maiye Taiguk.
“Now they're 12”, he said, “The lost are back.” The village was loud.
"His hand beat the leopards, and now he's back." A companion said.
"He killed all the leopards with his bare hands!" and another shouted, "How glorious we are now, this hero is living in our village!" Then a big celebration was held, where they sang, danced, and ate.
Since then, a story has been circulated from generation to generation about a farmer in their village who, thanks to his bravery and strength, has been honoured throughout the village。
