Nordic mythology: Mother's story
a mother's child is sick, and she's very worried, day and night to be around the child.
finally one night, death came to her house and took her child while she was asleep.
mother wakes up and finds her child missing and hurrys out to look for her.
and suddenly i woke up and fought the cold.
a woman in a black robe sitting outside in the snow, she's the god of night.
she told women that death had taken her children and that if she wanted to know where they went, she had to sing to herself a thousand times a song for her children.
mother had to sing and cry, and the night god was moved, telling her death was headed for the blackwood.
in the depths of the woods, several roads cross, and women don't know which path to choose.
there was a series of thorns on the side of the road that were already frozen, and it told the woman that if she could hold herself warm in her arms, she would be told the direction of death.
the woman held up the thorns, attached them to her chest, stabbed her in the muscles and shed her blood.
in her arms, the thorns produced fresh green leaves and expelled beautiful flowers, which told women where to go.
in a moment, a great lake blocked a woman's way.
the great lakes said to women that if she could cry out her eyes to herself, she could help her to cross the shore.
"ah, i can sacrifice everything for my children!" mother cried and said.
so she cried more so, and her eyes fell into the lake, and she became two of the most precious pearls.
the lake lifted her up and floated to the other side.
there's a strange house across the coast, the greenhouse of death, where trees of all kinds are planted, and an old woman guarding the greenhouse for death.
the old lady said it was possible to let a woman into the greenhouse in search of the flowers of her children ' s life, provided that she had beautiful long black hair and had to trade white hair with the old woman.
the women promised.
they changed their hair.
after that, they went into the greenhouse of death.
there are strange flowers and trees, every tree and every flower with a name that represents the life of a human being; these are living people scattered around the world, a sad mother who bends in front of the smallest plants and in these countless flowers hears the heartbeat of her child, a blue early spring flower.
the old hag told her to stop him from pulling the flower when death came and threatened him to pull all the plants, which would scare him.
that's when death came.
"how did you find this place?" he said.
"why did you come earlier than i?" "because i'm a mother!" she said.
death's hand reaches to this small, weak flower, and the mother holds it with her hands.
"please give me back my child!" mother begged.
and suddenly she grabbed the two beautiful flowers next to her, and she said out loud to death, "i'm going to pull all your flowers out, and now i'm out of my way." don't touch them! death says, "you say you're in pain; but now you have to make another mother feel the same pain as you!"
othera mother?" this good mother hesitated.
she immediately released the two flowers.
"this is your eye," says death.
"i've pulled them out of the lake; i didn't know it was yours.
now they are brighter than before, take them back.
look at the bottom of the well next to you.
if you tell me the names of the two flowers you're trying to pull, then you'll know their whole future, their whole lives; then you'll know what you're going to destroy."
