Older people can practice yoga with proper grasp

The sound of waves came from the soft lights. During a quiet yoga class, I met an "old yoga couple", Mr. Yang and his wife, in a fitness center. They sometimes followed the coach to meditate, sometimes did full-body flexibility exercises, and even performed extremely difficult "tornado" movements. Many people think that yoga belongs to young people, not the elderly, but the behavior of Mr. Yang and his wife confirms that as long as they are properly grasped, the elderly can also practice yoga.

Mr. Yang said: "It was just an accident that we started practicing yoga. At the beginning, we just liked swimming and chose the gym closer to home. We came to swim almost every day. Later, I found out that there were aquatic yoga courses here, so I asked the coach if elderly people could practice yoga? The coach said of course!"

In the water, we followed the instructor to practice yoga movements without difficulty. After several practices, we feel that yoga is not as complicated as people think. After practicing water yoga for a while, we followed the coach to practice land yoga. It was very strenuous at the beginning and my limbs ached, but my body felt very comfortable after practicing. We have always followed the guidance of our coaches, not seeking perfection like young people, but doing our yoga postures in place.

For example, the first time we practiced leg stretching, our hands could only touch the thighs; the second time we practiced, we tried to touch the knees; and the third time we touched the calves with our hands. Practice patiently time and time again, and now our hands can touch the toes.

The biggest beneficiary of practicing yoga is Grandma Yang. Due to her sedentary office inactivity when she was young, she developed severe cervical hyperplasia. If her neck moved slightly, her joints would "squeak". She had to use high pillows to sleep at night, and she often felt dizzy. After practicing yoga for a few months, Grandma Yang's condition improved significantly.

The Yang couple, who have been practicing yoga for a year and a half, can't let go of it. "During the Chinese New Year, because I went back to my hometown to visit relatives, I hadn't practiced yoga with my coach for more than a month. Instead, I practiced with a CD, and I felt that I was a little worse in all aspects. No, after we got home, we immediately resumed yoga classes with the coach, and now we have adjusted our bodies." Mr. Yang said to me happily. (Editor in charge: Teng Yun)
