The basis of behavioral therapy is that psychologists believe that abnormalities in behaviors and habits are fixed through the process of "learning" in individuals 'living environment or due to mental trauma, so they can also be eliminated and corrected through learning. The purpose of behavioral therapy is to change learned behaviors through conditioned reflexes.
Before behavioral therapy, we must first study and select a less serious and easier behavior as a target in order to gain the trust of parents. There are three commonly used behavioral therapy methods:
1 Positive reinforcement method: This method is generally used. If a certain required action is completed, verbal approval or spiritual encouragement is given, and then material reward is given; parents and children can also sign a contract to provide guarantee.
2 Negative reinforcement method: After bad behavior occurs, parents express dissatisfaction or cancel the rewards given in the positive reinforcement method. The most common and effective method without side effects is to ignore his bad behavior. At the beginning, the bad behavior may temporarily increase, but it should not be interrupted because of this, and it can be gradually reduced or disappeared in the future.
3 Form new behaviors: Ask children to create a new behavior, but there must be a process and not rush it.
