Belize's legal holidays

BelizeBelize is a country in Central America and the only country in Central America with English as the official language. March 9 Baron Bliss Day, Belize

September 11 St. George's Island Day (September 11, 1798)

Belize (one of the birthplaces of Mayan civilization): St. George's Island Day is celebrated every year on September 10th. Belize City celebrates nationwide to commemorate a battle in which the British army repelled the Spanish army in 1798. In 1502, Columbus traveled along the coast of Belize, but he never landed in Belize. In 1511, the first Europeans to land in Belize were Spanish sailors, but most of them were immediately captured by the local Mayans as sacrifices or slaves. European loggers began to live for a short time in 1638, and some wood (ink tree-logwood, Brazilian rosewood-brazilwood) could be shipped to Europe for use as dyes. In the early 1700s, mahogany became a popular export. During this period, there were also many pirates visiting the area, some settled by Spaniards, and some sporadic Indian attacks.
