Strange ethnic minority wedding customs
Wedding customs in different areas have their own characteristics. China has a vast nation, and naturally there will be unique customs. Let's follow Xiao Bian all the way to see what rare wedding customs are in various places!
1. Pre-marriage exercises. A Jiali of China Taiwan Province believes that women's influence in family positions is very important, and that women's house-keeping methods are directly related to the rise and fall of the family. Therefore, women must go to the man's house for exercises before marrying, and only after they are recognized by the man's family can they become an in-marriage. During the exercise era, in addition to staying at her own home, the woman worked and ate at the man's home. If the man's family was satisfied with the woman's exercise, they could take care of the woman's exercise, and the two sides could marry each other.
2. The bride goes on hunger strike. The bride's hunger strike is a marriage custom among the Yi people in China. The bride must start a hunger strike ten days before marriage. If you are thirsty, take a sip of water and spit it out. The Yi people call this kind of hunger strike Zakong. The longer and more thorough the bride's time is, it means that the more determined the bride is, the more she understands etiquette, and she will be praised by her clansmen.
3. Tang Yuan replied. This custom is mainly found in the area of Raoping County, Guangdong Province, China. It means that when a man and a woman are negotiating marriage, in order to stop the sadness caused by being straightforward, they choose to use glutinous rice balls for restoration. If the five glutinous rice balls in the bowl are full of bean paste and sesame sugar fillings, then it means that the woman has approved of the marriage; if only three of the five glutinous rice balls have sugar fillings, it means that the woman is hesitant; if all five glutinous rice balls have no filling and are solid meatballs, then it is a confession that the marriage is over.
4. Married women shave their bald heads. Shaving bald heads for married women is a strange custom among Lahu women living in Shuangjiang County, Yunnan Province, China. Legend has it that in the early years, the Lahu people were good at hunting. Every time a man went out to hunt, his lover would follow him to provide financial aid. In order to prevent animals such as monkeys, bears, tigers, and leopards from grabbing their hair during hunting, the woman shaved her head completely. Although Lahu women no longer go into the mountains with men for hunting, they still think that shaving their bald heads is comfortable and hygienic and will not work hard. Therefore, they shave their hair completely from the day of marriage, which is a symbol of the beauty of their famous women.
