Ancient Egyptian pyramids and sphinxes and temples
In addition to Alexander, there are many miracles left over from ancient Egypt, the most famous Pyramid of Khufu and the Sphinx and various temples.
pyramid
A total of 96 pyramids have been found in Egypt, the largest being the three pyramids in Giza, a suburb of Cairo.
The Pyramid of Khafrat is a tomb built for himself by the ancient Egyptian king. The Great Pyramid is the tomb of Khufu, the second king of the Fourth Dynasty. It was built around 2690 BC and was originally 146.5 meters high. Due to the weathering over time, the top peeled off by 10 meters, and is now 136.5 meters high. The base has a side length of more than 230 meters, the triangle plane has a slope of 51 degrees, and the tower bottom area is 52,900 square meters; the tower body is made of 2.3 million stones, each stone weighs an average of 2.5 tons. It is said that it took 100,000 people 20 years to build it. The channel inside the pyramid is open to the outside world. The channel is exquisitely designed and calculated, which is amazing.
The second pyramid is the tomb of King Khufu's son Khafrat. It was built in 2650 BC and is 3 meters lower than the former, but the architectural form is more perfect and spectacular. In front of the tower, there are temples and other ancillary buildings and the famous Sphinx.
The face of the Sphinx is similar to Hafra, and the body is a lion. It is 22 meters high and 57 meters long. One ear of the statue is 2 meters high. Except for the lion's claws, the entire statue is carved from a piece of natural rock. Due to the loose stone and the history of more than 4000 years, the entire statue has been severely weathered. In addition, the face was severely damaged. Some people said that it was caused by Mamluk using it as a target to practice shooting. Others said it was left by shelling when Napoleon invaded Egypt in the 18th century.
The third pyramid belongs to King Menkawula, grandson of Khufu, and was built around 2600 BC. At that time, it was the decline of the Fourth Dynasty, and the architecture of the pyramid began to decline. The height of the Menkawla Pyramid suddenly dropped to 66 meters, and the internal structure was chaotic.
Luxor Temple
The Luxor Temple is the temple of Mut, wife of Amon, the god of Thebes, and is second only to the Temple of Karnak.
Karnak Temple
The Karnak Temple is located 5 kilometers north of Luxor. It is the most spectacular temple left over from the ancient Egyptian Empire. It is famous around the world for its vast scale. The well-preserved part alone covers an area of more than 30 hectares. The entire building complex includes more than 20 temples of different sizes. There is a tower gate 44 meters high and 131 meters wide in the courtyard. The Grand Pillar Hall is 102 meters wide and 53 meters deep. There are 134 giant stone pillars in total. It is magnificent and shocking. Among them, the largest 12 are 23 meters high and 15 meters in circumference. Their upper feet can accommodate 50 people standing. At night, there will be sound and light performances, with colorful lights changing to illuminate the ruins, complete with commentaries and music, telling tourists the life of the ancient Egyptian people.
Giant statue of Meng Nong
The Colossus of Mengnong are two rock giants standing in the wilderness between the west bank of the Nile River and the Valley of the Kings. It turned out to be a statue in front of the temple of pharaoh "Amenhotep III", but the temple itself has disappeared. The giant elephant is 20 meters high, severely weathered, and its face is no longer recognizable. People believed that the stone statue was a statue of Mennon in Greek mythology, so they named the stone statue of Mennon. An earthquake during the Roman rule caused cracks in the statue. Whenever the wind blows, Mennon seems to be singing, which is very magical. Later, the statue of Mennon was repaired and never sang again.
