What is the cause of lateral leg pain?
Pain on the outside of the leg can be caused by muscle damage or compression of the nerve roots. In some patients, it can be caused by lesions in the hip or knee joint. Patients can complete imaging examination, electromyogram examination, etc. for judgment. Patients with sciatic nerve or lateral femoral cutaneous nerve injury may experience pain in the posterior or lateral position of the leg. Patients can also cause pain on the outer leg due to damage to muscles such as the tensor fascia lata of the lateral thigh or the gastrocnemius of the calf. Some patients with osteoarthritis and synovitis of the hip or knee joint can also experience pain on the outside of the legs. Patients need symptomatic intervention, including medication and physical therapy to relieve symptoms.
