Understand personal limits and avoid yoga injuries
I heard that yoga has a history of 5000 years. Do you think modern people should understand how to avoid yoga harm?
You may have heard a lot about yoga having a history of 5000 years. Yes, yoga postures and breathing have a history of more than 1000 years. However, the various courses we take now started in 1921, and the yoga we are doing now has been "far from the topic" and many people just regard it as an exercise, which is why we can always easily get ourselves injured. In our mind, everything places great importance on results, and in many yoga classes, yoga teachers also ask you to do what they show. Everyone wants to do their best, but everyone's physical state is different. We should get rid of the idea that "we must do the same as the teacher" and instead clarify the goals of our practice. Sometimes teachers will say,"By the way, this is the traditional practice method. "However, traditional practice methods have worked for the past 50 years. The extent of yoga's harm reminds us that some traditional practice methods are no longer suitable for today's practitioners.
What do you think is the biggest difference between today's yoga practice methods and past practices?
In traditional yoga practice, all yoga practitioners do difficult postures to allow themselves to deeply experience the meditation of yoga and feel the energy of the body. This practice method makes people feel light and flexible. Modern people use alternative methods to achieve the state that traditional practitioners can achieve.
Do you think when we pose, we should pose first and then meditate? Do you meditate first and then pose, or do it together?
There are many different practice postures in yoga. When practicing, you should combine consciousness from the beginning. When running and jumping, people don't feel the body until later, but yoga is different. It reaches a certain relaxed state through meditation and breathing at the beginning, and then feels the posture, so yoga posture is not so much a kind of The result is more a kind of relaxation.
What harm can happen if you don't do some preparatory exercises correctly in yoga class?
They may get injured or struggle very hard. For example, in the practice of power yoga, when doing the upper dog pose, if you don't have proper preparation, it's easy to get nervous and compete. When your muscles cannot support the posture, your joints will work hard and your body will be easily injured. At this time, you should return to a position where you feel comfortable. It's best to practice yoga with only one instructor and choose yoga classes carefully.
When posing, what kind of reaction does the body send out as a signal of injury?
After a yoga class, you should have a good feeling of being united with your body and mind. If only one part of your body feels good-that is, you feel sweating all over your body and your tension is gone, but you will also feel a headache or sore wrists, or feel over-excited. This is the signal. When you practice yoga, give yourself a questionnaire and ask yourself how your body feels: "Have I exceeded my limits?" "or" Do I always have this sore feeling? "If the answer is yes, you really need to take a basic course.
Many people regard yoga as another form of exercise, are they wrong?
Yoga is an emotional exercise. You have to feel your feelings. I don't mean crying in yoga class. Although this situation may sometimes happen, it is more about self-examination and self-awareness. Unlike participating in a running competition, when practicing yoga, don't have the idea that "I have to do my best", but rather enjoy your own feelings. This is a very important step and difficult to do. But when you take a yoga class, you walk through the door of self-knowledge, and your body will help you gain self-knowledge. This may be a goal that a pure sports event cannot achieve. (Internship Editor: Li Jianhong)
