Czechoslovak folk story: 12 months story
do you know how many months a year is? after the end of one month and the beginning of another month, there has never been a month before, february early or may before april.
the months are connected, but they never come together.
but it was said that there was a little girl in a mountain country called bohemia, who had seen her for 12 months at the same time.
the thing is...
in a small village, living with a mean, mean woman.
she has a biological daughter and a daughter left behind by an ex-wife.
she was particularly fond of her own daughter, and the daughter of the former wife could not in any way satisfy her, and it was never her intention to do anything; she was never her heart to say anything.
her own daughter was lying in bed all day, eating cookies made of honey, while her ex-wife's daughter was busy all day, had no time to sit down for a while, carrying water, collecting firewood, washing and cooking, and leaving everything to her alone.
she has had the cold of winter, the heat of summer, the wind of spring and the rain of autumn.
that is why, once, she saw 12 months at the same time.
it was a winter, and it was in january that the snow was so thick that it had to go out and open a road with shovels.
in the forest, in the mountains, the trees stand in the snow with their backs, and the wind blows and they shake.
people are sitting at home at this time.
in the evening, the heartless stepmother pushed the door open and the storm was raging.
she went back to the oven and said to her ex-wife's daughter, "tomorrow is the day of your sister's name, go to the forest and get some snow from a plant that blooms in the snow." the little girl looked at the stepmother and wondered whether it was a joke or whether she was actually asked to go to the forest.
now, how terrible is it in the forest? how can there be snowflakes on such a cold day? everyone knows that no snowflakes will come out before march.
now to go to the forest, you'll be stuck in a snow pile to freeze to death in vain.
my sister said to her, "if you freeze, no one will cry.
go on, take the basket, and don't come back without snowflake." the little girl wept and tied up a turban and left the house.
the storm broke her eyes and her turban was about to break.
she walked hard and moved her legs in the snow.
it's getting darker.
the sky is dark, and there is no star, but it is brighter on the earth, because snow is white.
the little girl is in the woods, and it's dark out of hand.
the little girl sat on a fallen tree.
she wants to freeze to deathAll of a sudden, there's a light in the far woods, like a star blocked by a branch.
As a result, the little girl walked towards the light, and she walked in the snow with a deep, shallow foot, over a blizzard tree.
She thought, "If only the light hadn't been extinguished, it had been a bonfire, and it was burning, and the little girl had already smelled its warm smoke and heard the branches of the fire crack and burn." She stepped up and looked at an open ground, which was as bright as the sun.
In the middle of the open ground, a bonfire burns in the middle of the field, and the red and radiant pillars of fire burst into the clouds.
There were many people sitting around the bonfire, some near, some far away, and they sat there, whispering.
The little girls looked at them and thought, "What kind of people is this? It's not like they're hunting, much less they're logging." You see, they're so pretty, some in silver, some in gold and some in green velvet.
She counted 12 people: three old people, three middle-aged people, three young people and three children.
Young people sit next to bonfires, and older people stay away.
An old man suddenly turned around.
This is the tallest old man, with a beard, a white eyebrow, staring at the little girl.
The little girl was scared, she wanted to run, but it was too late.
The old man said out loud, "Where are you from? What are you doing here?" The little girl showed him her empty basket, and she said, "I took it for snowflake." The old man listens and smiles and says, "It's amazing to come to the snowflakes in January!" "It wasn't my idea!" The little girl was busy saying, "My stepmother asked me to pick snowflakes.
And she said to me, "No more baskets, no more go back to her!" At that point, the 12 men turned their heads towards her and talked to her.
The little girl wants to sit down and listen to what they say, but she doesn't understand it, as if it wasn't a man's word, but the trees were ringing in sand.
They're talking, and they're silent.
And the tall old man turned around and said, "What if you can't find Snowflake? Snowflakes won't open until March." "I'll stay in the forest until March!" the little girl said, "Frozen in the forest, better than taking an empty basket home." She came here and cried.
Suddenly, one of the youngest and happiest of the twelve men, with a skin on his shoulder, walked up to the old man and said, "Jan, give me an hour!" The old man erased his beard and said, "I can let go, but March can't come before February!""come on!" the other hairy, bearded old man spoke.
"let him.
i won't argue with him.
we all know this little girl.
you can see she's watering in a gutter, she's wooding in the woods, she's always so hard-working every year.
we should help her." "well, listen to you!" january said.
he knocked on the floor with an ice-crawl stick and said, "cool, don't be so rude! "dude, it's your turn!" says in january, and then hands it over to the furry february brother.
knocking on the crutches in february, throwing his beard, and crying out, "whirlwind, storm, snow, whistling day and night! he just finished, and suddenly there was a wind in the forest.
snowflake danced and a white snow column was rolled up.
in february, he handed over the ice-train to his brother in march, who said, "now it's your turn, my brother in march!" the brother picked up the stick and knocked on the floor.
the little girl looked up and looked, and the stick had turned into a flower budding branch.
smiling in march, singing with his cocky sonnet: "a river, run, sing, a creek, sing!" "a ants in a hole, climb out of there!" the birds sing the song of joy, and the snowflakes are rising in the sun! and the earth beneath her feet was softened, and the fragrance of spring.
the sprouts of the trees have risen and the first new leaves have broken out.
she looks at this wonderful sight, and she looks at it, and she can't see it! in march, she was told, "come on, my brothers gave me only an hour!" the little girl woke up and ran for snowflake.
there are so many snowflakes here, under the bushes, under the rocks, up and down, almost everywhere, and you cannot count.
she was full of baskets and lifted an apron with a big bag of drums.
after the snowflake, she..and back in the open land where the 12 brothers sat around the bonfire.
but she can no longer see the bonfire, and the 12 brothers are gone.
the earth is bright, but it is not the bonfire, but a round of moons that have just climbed up to the tree.
the little girl looked at it, and it was impossible to even say thank you.
she was upset and ran away.
the moon followed her, and wherever she went she followed.
she came to the door unknowingly.
as soon as he entered the door, a blizzard came out of the window and the moon went into the dark clouds.
"what's wrong with you?" she asked her sister, "why are you back so early? where's the snowflake?" the little girl did not say a word, but threw the snowflake from her apron to the stool and put the snowflakes in the basket to the side.
my stepmother and sister all scream, "where did you get this?" the little girls had told the story of what had happened to them, and they were listening and shaking their heads and believing and not believing.
but how can you not believe that there are a bunch of light blue snowflakes on the stool? it feels like it's march.
the mother and her daughter looked at each other and asked her, "didn't they give you anything else in the last 12 months?" "you're such an idiot!" sister said, "it's been 12 months and you don't want anything but snowflake.
if i go, i'll ask them for something! i'll ask for pears and sweet apples for the first person; i'll ask for strawberry for the second person; i'll ask for white wood ears for the third person; i'll ask for cucumbers for the fourth person! if we sell these things, we'll make a lot of money, but she's just some snowflake.
you'll have to wear more clothes and go there.
although there are 12 of them, you're alone, and they won't lie to you!" "they're not my opponents!" the daughter said, "stand your turban, shrunk your hand into your sleeve and went out." mom started screaming in the back: "put your gloves on and tie the button on your coat!" but the daughter has left the house and went straight to the forest.
she ran along her sister's footsteps, and she couldn't help but think, "come on! get to the forest! the forests are becoming denser and darker, the snow piles are getting higher, and the trees that have been destroyed by the storm have become a wall.
"oh, my god!" her sister thought, "how could i remember coming to the woods? it would be nice to be at home, lying in a warm bed! she just thought about it, and suddenly she found the light from the far, like the stars flashing between branches.
she's on her wayWalking in that direction, walking in the middle of the forest.
She saw a bonfire burning in the middle, with 12 brothers sitting around and whispering about what.
She went all the way to the bonfire, neither greeting anyone nor saying a word of courtesy, but choosing one of the warmest places to warm her up。
