Avoid yoga injuries and start understanding your body's limits
Joseph h, founder of inte grative yoga therapy Li Peiqi held a seminar on the theme of "Avoiding Yoga Harms." He proposed that yoga is the best and most important way to "self-awareness." Although this does not seem to have much to do with solving the harm caused by yoga, Li Peiqi believes that the two are inseparable. He said that when learning yoga, if he first doesn't know his goal, his body, and his limits, he or she will practice very blindly, which will increase the chance of injury. Here is Li Peiqi's answer to readers on how to practice yoga safely.
I heard that yoga has a history of 5000 years. Do you think modern people should understand how to avoid yoga harm?
You may have heard a lot about yoga having a history of 5000 years. Yes, yoga postures and breathing have a history of more than 1000 years. However, the various courses we take now started in 1921, and the yoga we are doing now has been "far from the topic" and many people just regard it as an exercise, which is why we can always easily get ourselves injured. In our mind, everything places great importance on results, and in many yoga classes, yoga teachers also ask you to do what they show. Everyone wants to do their best, but everyone's physical state is different. We should get rid of the idea that "we must do the same as the teacher" and instead clarify the goals of our practice. Sometimes teachers will say,"By the way, this is the traditional practice method. "However, traditional practice methods have worked for the past 50 years. The extent of yoga's harm reminds us that some traditional practice methods are no longer suitable for today's practitioners. What do you think is the biggest difference between today's yoga practice methods and past practices?
In traditional yoga practice, all yoga practitioners do difficult postures to allow themselves to deeply experience the meditation of yoga and feel the energy of the body. This practice method makes people feel light and flexible. Modern people use alternative methods to achieve the state that traditional practitioners can achieve. (Internship Editor: Wu Jinyu)
