Insider exposure in the industry: Most yoga instructors are Mr. Nan Guo
- Fitness consultant: There are only a dozen good coaches in Shanghai
According to Wen Wei Po,"There are now almost two to three hundred yoga instructors in Shanghai, but only a dozen are really good. Most coaches are made quickly." Fitness consultant Wei Limin told reporters at the Shanghai Yoga Fitness Club on Wanping South Road. According to him, there are only two or three institutions engaged in yoga instructor training in Shanghai, but almost all fitness centers offer yoga courses.
- Crash course: you can finish in 5 days
According to reports, in order to meet market needs, there are almost no thresholds for yoga instructor training, and the cycle cannot be shorter: completing 20 classes in one to two months is a long time. If you choose intensive training, you can also graduate after completing 30 classes in 5 days.
The content of the training course includes yoga knowledge, breathing methods, basic movements, course layout and teaching techniques. According to Wei Limin, even if there are only three preschool events, 20 to 30 class hours are only enough for an ordinary person to complete the entry level.
Wei Limin himself became a coach after practicing yoga for six years, but he is now also offering such accelerated coach training courses. In his training courses, less than 20% of the students have a foundation in yoga, and more than 50% of the students are physical or aerobic instructors sent by various fitness centers, and they will also serve as yoga instructors after completing the course.
- Student: Some people sprained their necks with the coach
The quick result is that many coaches teach yoga as aerobic exercise, only talking about movements and not breathing. Song Qing, a yoga instructor at the Nobo Center, said that for yoga, looking good movements is secondary, and regulating breathing is the most important. But nowadays, many coaches do not master the breathing method of yoga themselves, so they can only work hard on the movements; the students feel dizzy from practicing. What's more, a Shanghai fitness center even happened when the coach led the students to practice handstands, which resulted in the students sprained their necks.
- Large class teaching: Sometimes you can't even hear what the coach says clearly
Both Wei Limin and Song Qing said that the more lively aerobic exercise, the better, but the opposite is true for yoga. Only small classes of less than 10 people can ensure the quality of teaching. However, many fitness centers in Shanghai arrange yoga as an ordinary fitness class. The phenomenon of teaching in large classes is common. At most, there are even 50 students in one class. They don't learn the same content regardless of whether they have basics or not. Sometimes they can't hear what the coach is saying clearly. (Internship Editor: Lin Xiaodong)
