Eenga was born in 1918 into a teacher's family. When he was a child, Eenga was frail and sickly. In order to keep his child healthy, his father asked Eenga to learn from a teacher and practice yoga when he was 16 years old. Eenga studied from the famous yoga master Machaya at the time. After two years of hard study, the talented Eenga made great achievements in yoga theory and practice. He was sent by his teacher to Pune, Maharashtra state in southern India, to teach as a substitute for his teacher.

In 1952, Eenga met the world famous violinist Menuine Yehudi. With Menuine's help, Eenga began to introduce yoga to Western countries. In 1966, his book "Light of Yoga" comprehensively introduced the practice methods of yoga to the world for the first time, causing quite a stir in Western countries and was evaluated as "a shortcut for Westerners to the ancient healthy art of the East." The book is known as a classic in the history of yoga and has been translated into 18 languages and published around the world.

During his nearly 70-year teaching career, Eenga's students have spread all over India, with a large number of students in political parties, government, military and business circles, including India's first president, Prashad. Abroad, Eenga also has many believers. Celebrities and dignitaries such as the Queen Mother of Belgium and the former Vice President of Indonesia have asked him for advice.

Teaching is very vivid

In January 1973, Eenga established the Ramamoni Eenga Yoga Institute in Pune. This first yoga academy in India to recruit students on a large scale has become a "holy place" in the eyes of yoga enthusiasts around the world. In 1998, on Eenga's 80th birthday, he set a record teaching to 800 students in one week.

In Eenga's view, yoga is a method that allows people to concentrate their spirit through meditation and physical exercise, constrain and guide it correctly, so as to realize the integration of individuals and the spirit of all things in the universe and ultimately achieve self-liberation. During the teaching process, Eenga is good at using image metaphors, allowing many beginners to quickly break through the obstacles of practice and experience the mystery of yoga. He once said: "If you take care of the roots, the flowers will naturally bloom and exude fragrance. If you take care of your body, your mind and soul will naturally grow and improve."

The coach provided guidance. In the eyes of believers, he is a wise man who not only has the ancient philosophical thinking of the East, but also has a broad international perspective.

In the American "Time" magazine rankings published on April 18, Eenga, as a sports person, was shortlisted in the list of the "100 Most Influential People in the World" alongside stars such as Beckham and Yao Ming. The magazine believes that Eenga has made a significant contribution to the national fitness movement of mankind. It is precisely because of his spare no effort to promote yoga that yoga has become a popular fitness movement around the world. (Internship Editor: Lin Xiaodong)
