The 2015 Spanish Photography Festival opened a Latin American special event, and 395 artists gathered to make an appearance

Following the previous Iberia special event, this Spanish Photography Festival PhotoEspana) opened a Latin American special exhibition in Madrid from June 3 to August 30.

During the festival, more than 100 exhibitions will be displayed and 395 artists will appear, more than half of whom are from across the Atlantic. Maria Gracia Yelo, the chief planner of the festival, first hopes to give lesser-known artists a stage to showcase themselves. Secondly, in the art world, male artists tend to become famous faster than female artists, so photography festivals naturally focus on female artists, female authors, or photography themes about women.

In addition to unearthing young artists, some avant-garde photographers also have yet to be rediscovered. For example, representatives of the revival of Mexican literature and art, the Italian-American artist Tina Modotti and the Mexican-American artist Lola Alvarez BRAVO. Inspired by Dr. Edward Weston and Dr. Tina Modotti, Dr. Lola Alvarez Bravo (born in 1903 and died in 1993) was a good friend of Dr. Frida Kahlo. The former has created many portraits of her. Dr. Lola Alvarez Bravo is also known for her ability to capture urban themes of daily life in Mexico. She is the first female photographer to hold a solo exhibition at Salón de la Plástica, Mexico.

In addition, a large exhibition organized by James Oles will be unveiled during the festival. On the market, the most expensive photography of Dr. Lola Alvarez Bravo sold for approximately US$5,000.

Therefore, her market value is low compared to her artistic achievements in Mexico. To give an example of the sharp gap between Lola Alvarez Bravo and Manuel Alvarez Bravo, whose most expensive photography is 50 times lower than that of her former husband. The personal record set by Mr. Manuel Alvarez Bravo was the portrait "Portrait de L'Éternel" taken in Mexico in 1935. The work was sold at Sotheby's in Paris on November 19, 2010, and the price was as high as nearly US$309,000 including handling fees).
