The most postures yoga: Iyengar Yoga
The 88-year-old Master Iyengar is the founder of Iyengar Yoga. Some people say that this system of yoga is a blessing for beginners, patients, middle-aged and elderly people.
Iyengar was frail and sickly since he was a child. He first practiced hatha yoga to strengthen his body, and at one time he reached a very high level. When he was about 60 years old, Iyengar experienced a car accident, and the severe injuries prevented him from performing even the simplest posture. After 9 years, with extraordinary perseverance and hard work, Iyengar finally recovered. Iyengar deeply realized the pain of having a disease and the magical healing effect brought by yoga, thus creating the famous and therapeutic Iyengar yoga system. Iyengar Yoga is recognized as the most demanding postures practice method. It can coordinate the balance of the body and has a good effect on treating diseases.
To practice Iyengar yoga, you need to pay special attention to the details of various parts of the body and be good at using various auxiliary props. This kind of course is set up slowly and moderately. Stability of posture can promote deep breathing, and concentration of consciousness can enhance spiritual strength. At present, domestic captains have begun to teach this system, and I believe it will be introduced to China in the near future.
Suitable for: people with hard bodies, patients, people who recover after surgery and postpartum
Many people have regained their health by practicing Iyengar yoga, but they will find it too boring if they are impatient.
Features: A variety of dazzling auxiliary props are the biggest difference between Iyengar yoga and traditional yoga. Many of these postures need to be completed with auxiliary tools such as wooden blocks, benches, sandbags, blankets, pillows, and cloth belts, which can also increase the range of movements. It also makes many seemingly unreachable movements no longer complex, thus benefiting students of different physical levels.
Note: Iyengar yoga is known for its safety and slowness, which can hone your impetuous temperament. But as many yogis point out, one of the negative consequences of relying too much on equipment and props is to cultivate a person's awareness of laziness and ignore the increase in one's physical fitness. Therefore, when learning this yoga system, you should tap your body's potential as much as possible and ultimately throw away your tools rather than relying on it for life.
Yoga is a gift from God to everyone. It is quite necessary to use wisdom to make careful choices based on one's own conditions. At different stages of life, you can choose different systems to practice. When you are sick or unwell, you can choose Iyengar yoga, or just practice breathing and meditation; after you recover, you can practice hatha yoga or flow yoga, and those at intermediate levels can try Ashtanga yoga. Everyone enters different "doors" due to different needs, and ultimately ends up reaching the same destination through different routes. But the real decision should be made by your body. Therefore, learning to listen to the needs of the body and adapt to nature is the true meaning of yoga. Just as climbers who want to climb the Himalayan Snow Mountains need not only ladders, ropes and hooks, but also good physical and mental qualities and scientific climbing methods, those who know how to use discernment, have peace and perseverance in their hearts, are good at listening and discovering their own potential. Only then can you get real benefits from yoga.
