Ujjayi Breathing
1. Use a comfortable meditation pose or lie down in savasana. Follow the well-known natural breathing process and feel the air drop through the trachea. Gently control the area behind the throat, like when you swallow. Close your mouth and breathe in and out through your nose. Make the inhale and exhale long, deep and controlled. Practice full yoga breathing and focus on the sound. Start practicing for 3 minutes and gradually increase to 10 minutes.
2. Practice as described above, but fold the tongue back so that the top of the tongue presses against the back of the soft upper palate in the upper back of the mouth.
3. When you breathe in, say "sa" to yourself, and when you breathe out, say "ha". Repeat ten times. Inhalation and exhalation should last for equal periods, even and soothing.
4. When you practice breathing, pay attention to the dispersion of your thoughts and direct your thoughts to your breathing.
5. Focus on exhale. Notice where your breathing normally stops. Increase the fullness of your exhalation. (Editor in charge: Teng Yun)
