Jinqian Online News Among the 76 projects in the "Representative List of Human Intangible Cultural Heritage", including 22 projects declared by China, the Guizhou Dong Song, which was undertaken by the Provincial Department of Culture and the Liping County Government, was successfully selected into the "Representative List of Human Intangible Cultural Heritage".
Guizhou Dong Song has become the first time that an intangible cultural heritage project in our province has been included in the world-class heritage list.
The wordless songs of the Dong people and the big songs of the Dong people originated from the Spring and Autumn Period and have a history of more than 2500 years.
They are a form of folk chorus with multiple parts, no conductor, no accompaniment, and natural harmony.
In 1986, at the Golden Autumn Art Festival in Paris, France, the Dong Song in Liping, Guizhou Province was unveiled and shocked everyone.
It was considered to be "a shining music like a clear spring, a melody that skims the edge of an ancient dream."
It is reported that the 22 China projects included in the list are: China sericulture and silk weaving skills, Fujian Nanyin, Nanjing Yunjin, Anhui rice paper, Guizhou Dong song, Guangdong Cantonese opera,"Gesar" epic, Zhejiang Longquan celadon, Qinghai Regong art, Tibetan opera, Xinjiang "Manas", Mongolian Humai, Gansu Huaer, Xi'an drum music, Korean agricultural music and dance, calligraphy, seal cutting, paper-cutting, woodblock printing, traditional wood structure creation skills, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mazu beliefs.
Previously, my country had four selected Kunqu Opera, Guqin, Xinjiang Uyghur Muqam, and Mongolian Long Diao.
UNESCO adopted the Convention for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage in October 2003, which aims to protect intangible cultural heritage represented by oral traditions, festival etiquette, handicraft skills, music and dance or traditional performing arts.
The Convention entered into force in April 2006.
