English folk story: the silence of the poor
one day, a farmer tied his horse to a tree and sat down for lunch.
then a rich man tied his horse to the same tree.
"please don't tie your horse to this tree." the farmer said, "my horse hasn't been tamed yet.
it'll kick your horse to death!" but the rich man replied, "i'll tie my horse wherever i want!" so he tied his horse and sat down for lunch.
however, in a short time, they heard terrible whirlings and saw two horses kicking and biting.
two of them ran to the horse, but it was too late — the rich horse had been kicked to death.
"see what your horse did!" the rich roared, "you must pay me a horse!" he said he took the farmer to the judge.
the judge asked the farmer, "did your horse really kick his horse?" the farmer didn't answer anything.
the judge then asked many questions to the farmer, who still did not answer a word.
in the end, the judge died and said, "what can we do? he's dumb, he can't talk." "oh, the rich shout with surprise, "he can talk like you and me! when i first met him, he said, "really?" the judge said, "what did he tell you?" the rich replied, “he told me not to tie the horse to the tree on which he was tied.
his horse hasn't been tamed yet.
if it's tied together, his horse will kick my horse." the judge said, “this is unreasonable because he warned you in advance.
therefore, he should not have paid your horse now.” the judge then turned to the farmer and asked him why he had not answered all his questions.
the farmer said, "because i know you'd rather believe in the rich than in the farmer's words.
at the same time, i want him to tell you everything.
look, don't you know who's right now?"
