Breathing in the naturally flowing air outdoors and feeling down-to-earth is very different...

The farther you are from the earth, the farther you are from people. Do you know when the ancients first had chairs to sit on? According to archaeologists, China should not begin to sit on chairs until after the Han Dynasty. Before that, people would sit cross-legged on the ground ~ Today, there are still many ethnic groups who are still accustomed to sitting on the ground. Like Japanese, Indians, etc. However, more people no longer sit on the ground.

Is there any difference between sitting on the ground and sitting in a chair? Of course there is. Physically speaking, when sitting on the ground, whether you are cross-legged or loosely seated, people's hip joints are open. Over time, the hip joints will become relatively loose. For people who sit in chairs for a long time, their hip joints are much tighter, they cannot bend forward, and their legs cannot be opened.

In addition, experts believe that psychologically, the farther we are from the earth, the greater the sense of alienation between people. Because we rarely come into contact with the emotion from the surface. With our shoes on, we don't know that today's land is warm and humid? Or is it dry and hard? The distance between us and the earth also makes us accustomed to the growing distance between us and people.

Another problem is that the stiffer our bodies are, the more unable we can bend down, and the farther we are from the ground, the less changeable we are. When the environment changes, there is less room for maneuver.

How close to nature?

This reminds me that some people are used to or like to associate themselves with nature, but more people like to be in the room and feel more secure.

In fact, if you have the opportunity, you are welcome to find a time to try it in the park. As long as you find a flat ground, lay two mats on it, and have a shade of trees, it will be a very good practice environment! If you have done yoga outdoors, you can better appreciate the feeling of connecting the outside and the inside. What different feelings does each gust of wind bring to the body or mind? Breathing in flowing air is like gas flowing in your blood, isn't it?

The feeling of being down-to-earth is not only closer to the earth, smelling the breath exuding from the ground, and feeling so close to the Mother Earth. I suggest you choose a thin cushion. Because the thinner the mat, the closer it is to the ground, the more "down-to-earth" it feels, and the gap between it and the earth is smaller.

Someone asked me that using thin cushions would make my knees uncomfortable. In fact, dear friends, what makes the knees uncomfortable is not the external cushion, but our posture and our hearts. If you don't pay attention to protecting your precious knees while doing postures, no matter how thick the cushion is, you will still be injured.

If one day, we can walk and jump freely on the ground barefoot like the ancients. It's a real enjoyment to do our favorite yoga while sweating in nature! (Editor in charge: Teng Yun)
