Who certifies a yoga instructor?
Through recent interviews and observations on the yoga industry, it is difficult to applaud such a rapidly growing industry. Although the popularity of yoga has been accompanied by calls from the media and industry insiders for "unified qualification certification", so far, the yoga industry is still in an unsupervised "vacuum" state, and yoga instructors are mixed.
You can take up the job after receiving training
"We will provide teaching classes for competing coaches and then focus on his performance in class and what members say about him." During the interview, the reporter found that no matter whether it is a gym or a professional yoga club, there is no explicit requirement for a trainer qualification certificate during the process of hiring a yoga instructor. "There is no unified industry standard at all in this industry. After receiving training, you will have the initial qualification to be a coach." Merchants all know it. Consumers are not confused,"As long as you teach well." There are so many yoga instructor schools nowadays, who knows which one is real?"
Yoga instructors are hired without a "coach certificate", but yoga schools that produce "coach certificates" are one after another. Statistics show that it only takes 10 days to complete a yoga instructor certificate, and the tuition fee is only 2000 yuan. The basic salary of yoga instructors ranges from 2000 yuan to 10000 yuan per month. Yoga classes cost at least 50 yuan per hour, while personal yoga instructors earn several hundred yuan per hour. The huge disparity between input and output has brought the development of the yoga industry into a "strange circle", and some people have begun to enjoy this mixed state. "The industry threshold is low and the returns are good, not to mention that yoga is so hot now." Due to the huge economic benefits, both practitioners and consumers have shown that they don't care whether the industry is standardized or not. Even many college students seeking employment have begun to regard yoga instructors as their first choice.
Where is the "China Yoga Industry Association"?
"Such a chaotic situation should be dealt with by the industry association." More and more people are beginning to worry, but where is the "China Yoga Industry Association"? There was no record at all in the industry association filing of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. When the reporter contacted the relevant person in charge of the national non-governmental organization, he was also told that there were no industry associations related to yoga. An industry insider who has been engaged in yoga training for many years told reporters,"There is no official industry association in this industry. The widely popular international yoga industry associations and International Yoga Alliance on the market... are all founded by individuals who have been engaged in yoga for many years, and many of them are headquartered in Hong Kong. It can't be said that they don't know what they're doing, but they definitely can't be regarded as authorities."
What kind of industry yoga is seems to be a question. During the interview, the reporter learned that yoga is not included in formal sports. Currently, the State Sports General Administration does not have specific documents regarding the movement specifications and qualifications of coaches, and the education department also does not have this training program. The labor security department does not involve yoga, and yoga is not a professional qualification training.
Yoga seems to have become an unclaimed child, blooming everywhere. As long as you have the funds for the business premises, opening a yoga club is no different from registering a self-employed person.
It is indeed difficult to introduce a "unified" standard
Unifying qualifications is difficult to achieve, and industry insiders naturally have difficulties. There are many categories of yoga. There are more than 83000 yoga postures alone. In addition, yoga is an "imported product" to begin with. How to better serve the body of China people still requires more people to discuss for a long time, so completely unifying the industry standards is not the most ideal.
"I used to work as a yoga instructor in a gym and also have a so-called coaching certificate from a yoga school. However, when I came to apply for a coach in Chanzhou, I had to start as a membership instructor and go through an assessment period of more than a year." Zhang Jing, a membership coach at Chanzhou Yoga Club, told reporters,"Although the industry standards are not uniform, the threshold for coaching in some well-known professional yoga clubs is still very high. They all have their own evaluation mechanism, and the difficulty varies according to different categories of yoga. To a certain extent, these standards should have certain reference value for the unification of qualifications." (Internship Editor: Wu Jinyu)
